German books written for Vietnamese learners
German textbooks are usually written for speakers of English, Polish or Turkish. Vietnamese learners get stuck in different places. Frog-Job's four books explain in Vietnamese and focus on exactly those places, from A1 grammar to German on the job.

Choosing a book
Which book to start with
Everyone is at a different stage. The three suggestions below start with the most common case.
A1 grammar first
Without a grammar base, it is hard to turn vocabulary into sentences. The A1 book explains in Vietnamese and includes answers so you can check yourself.
Mein Deutsch for the long run
The vocabulary goes all the way from A1 to B2, so one book lasts you many years of study. It comes with video lessons.
Specialist dictionary
A1–B2 books don't teach the words you hear on shift. The dictionary is organised by Front Office, Restaurant and Kitchen, and every entry has IPA pronunciation.

German on the job
When the head chef calls something out and you freeze
You have B1, the interview went smoothly, and on your first shift you understand nothing. That is not your fault: A1–B2 books do not teach those words.

Organised the way you actually work
The dictionary follows the order Front Office, Restaurant, then Kitchen. The author worked in 4- and 5-star hotels and held the post of Assistant Manager. His co-author is his German director, so every term has been checked by a native speaker.
